The Imagining Publication team is a group that publishes monthly articles regarding STEM fields and careers, themed activities, movie reviews, and more! I interviewed Meruni, a rising junior freshman at Millard North High School and a new member of the team.
Why did you join JuSTEMagine and get involved with Imagining?
I joined JuSTEMagine to provide educational opportunities in STEM to kids in Omaha. This will hopefully expand their horizon to limitless possibilities in these fields. I wanted to engage my community members about the excitement of STEM. I got involved with Imagining because this is a good way to learn about various available STEM opportunities.
Do you participate in other STEM activities? If so, what are they?
I am the president of the Chemistry Club and American Cancer Society at Millard North High School. For the Chemistry Club, I organize Chemistry experiments so people can learn, have fun, and realize that science is enjoyable. For the American Cancer Society, I present the cancer topic awareness of the month and create games with cancer-related questions. I also participate in HOSA and am a peer tutor for science and math at my school.
How long have you been publishing for Imagining?
I am a new member of JuSTEMagine and have published one article.
What’s your favorite subject/STEM class, and why?
My favorite STEM class is Chemistry. This is because I found learning about different reactions and labs very interesting. I enjoy the creativity and the opportunity to experiment with different chemicals.
Any interesting facts that you’d like to share?
I enjoy playing competitive tennis. I also do taekwondo and am a black belt. I enjoy swimming, singing Carnatic music (classical South Indian music), and dancing Bharatanatyam (classical South Indian dance). I like traveling to new countries and learning about different cultures. So far, my favorite has been Costa Rica. My favorite food is Lo Mein noodles. My favorite artists are The Weeknd and SZA.
Thank you, Meruni, for taking part in this interview today, and congratulations on being our Imagining Team Member Spotlight!
